QA Engineer

About the job: 

We are seeking a highly motivated QA Engineer to take deep, hands-on ownership of quality across our platform. This is an individual contributor role: you will design and build test automation, set the technical bar for how we test, and raise the quality of the engineers around you through mentorship, review and example rather than direct reports. 

Key Responsibilities

Test Design & Automation

• Design, develop and execute manual and automated test cases across functional, regression, integration, performance and security testing.

• Build, maintain and extend automated test frameworks and tooling — including UI, API and end-to-end coverage — with an emphasis on reliability, speed and low maintenance cost.

• Own test coverage for assigned products or components end to end: from acceptance criteria through to release sign-off.

• Investigate failures to root cause, distinguish genuine defects from flaky or environmental issues, and drive fixes to closure.

Technical Leadership & Mentorship

• Set and champion QA engineering standards — test design patterns, coding conventions, review practices — and hold the bar in code and test reviews.

• Mentor and upskill less experienced QA engineers through pairing, review feedback and knowledge sharing.

• Identify gaps in process, tooling or coverage and drive improvements without waiting to be asked.

• Act as the quality point of contact for your area, giving a clear, evidence-based view of release readiness.

Quality Strategy & Collaboration

• Contribute to test strategies, test plans and quality standards aligned with product goals and release timelines.

• Partner closely with Product, Development and DevOps to embed quality early — shaping testable requirements, reviewing designs, and shifting checks left into the pipeline.

• Drive the defect management process for your area: timely identification, clear reproduction, accurate triage and resolution follow-through.

• Integrate automated suites into CI/CD so quality signal arrives fast and is trusted.

Metrics & Reporting

• Track and report QA metrics such as defect density, escaped defects, automation coverage, suite stability and release readiness.

• Communicate quality status and risk assessments clearly to engineering peers and stakeholders, with data behind the recommendation.

Qualifications

• Proven hands-on experience in software QA, with substantial depth in test automation (typically 2+ years, including ownership of a suite or product area).

• Strong knowledge of QA methodologies, tools and processes across manual and automated testing.

• Hands-on experience building and maintaining automation with modern tools and frameworks (e.g. Playwright, Selenium, Cypress, JUnit, TestNG, or equivalent), plus API testing.

• Solid programming ability in at last one language (e.g. JavaScript/TypeScript, Java, C# or Python) and comfort working in a shared codebase with version control and code review.

• Experience integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines (e.g. GitHub Actions, Jenkins, Azure DevOps).

• Experience mentoring or guiding other engineers, and influencing quality practices across a team.

• Excellent communication, organisational and problem-solving skills.

Work Location

Hybrid Work Model: This is a hybrid position, requiring you to work in the Bengaluru office 3 times per week.
