We are seeking a talented Senior Backend Developer to join our product engineering team. You will work independently and be accountable for all aspects of your team's work. Additionally, you will be directly involved in selecting the technologies and tools to deliver and operate services on our cloud environments (AWS). The ideal candidate will have a passion for technology and a strong desire to learn and grow.
Responsibilities
Design and implement scalable solutions for our Employee Referrals product, balancing a pragmatic, solution-oriented approach that prioritizes customer impact with well-designed systems that ensure performance and observability.
Strategize and manage the deployment of workloads to our cloud environment (AWS), ensuring their efficient and secure management.
Lead the design, development, and maintenance of RESTful APIs.
Support the agile team through all phases of the software engineering life cycle, providing mentorship and technical leadership.
Ensure comprehensive technical documentation is maintained and updated in an appropriate manner.
Develop and enforce standards for automated tests to ensure the delivery of high-quality features.
Maintain high standards for continuous integration, code quality, code reviews, test coverage, etc., to ensure our engineering practices are scalable and sustainable.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define and implement best practices in software development.
Requirements
Solid knowledge of microservices architecture, design patterns, distributed systems, and event-driven systems is required.
Demonstrated ability to lead the design, implementation, and maintenance of RESTful APIs.
Strong commitment to implementing clean and scalable software architecture.
Enjoy working with cloud-based environments (AWS) and cloud-native technologies.
Expertise in CI/CD (Jenkins, Github) and other automation tools.
Strong understanding and practical experience with agile methodologies, particularly Scrum.
Strong communication skills with the ability to articulate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
Exceptional problem-solving skills and the ability to lead technical discussions and decisions.
Big plus
Proficiency with JVM-based languages such as Scala, Java, Kotlin.
Basic understanding or interest in functional programming concepts.
The gross minimum salary according to the Collective Agreement based on the Austrian law for this position is EUR 3.843,00. This includes full health insurance, occupational accident insurance, a public pension scheme, and public unemployment insurance. Depending on your professional qualifications and previous experience, your salary could be significantly higher.
